Condolences For Melissa Watkins Starr

October 27, 1959 - January 9, 2020

RIP my sweet cousin. You were my lifelong friend and supporter of all my dreams. I love you. Uncle Huey and Brett, you ate both in my prayers.

I knew Melissa through the CNU Writers Conference. She loved writing short stories and poetry and sharing them with our "group." I am so sorry to hear of her passing--especially so young. Here is a video of her reading at Aroma's Coffee Shop. I hope that the link works. https://youtu.be/_T5YjWM4IhU

Sending love and prayers to Huey for the loss of your precious daughter. She was a very special and kind person. So very loved by both parents. Edna her mom was always requesting prayer for her at church. They were so proud of her accomplishments. Brett you were such a wonderful husband to her and I know you will greatly miss her. May God be with both of you and the family in the coming days. Thanking God again for precious memories. Mark and Tammy Hubbard

Who knew that pesky little girl, 12 years my junior, would become the lovely young woman, and then the the accomplished poet and writer, she did. Always soft-spoken, if sometimes salty, always curious. She had the most caring parents and loved them dearly, as they did her. She found her soulmate in Bret, and I can't comprehend his or Huey's grief now. I believe her faith has brought her to her mother's side with no more suffering. My heart is with all who will miss her dearly, and my wish is that the wonderful memories we have of her in our lives (and convey to others), will sustain us and honor her.
