Lisa Karen Stowe, 62, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2024, with family and friends surrounding her.

Funeral services will be held at First Wesleyan Church, 607 Church Street, Eden, NC, April 18, 2024, at 2:00 o’clock with visitation one hour before the service.

Lisa was born in Leaksville, NC, the youngest daughter of Leonard Douglas Stowe and Ida Mae Lawson Stowe. Lisa was born two years and two weeks after her sister, Debra, and they were like twins, matching clothes and celebrating birthdays together. They traveled together from the mountains to the ocean, Debra as the driver and Lisa as the guide. For these last three years, Lisa and Debra were inseparable as each helped the other through difficulties and Lisa’s fight with cancer.

Lisa graduated from Morehead High School with the Class of 1980 and High Point College with BA in English in 1984. She was a member of Order of the Lighted Lamp. She worked with Wachovia Bank and then Wells Fargo for 40 years in the marketing division as a Vice President and a Marketing Program Manager. Lisa met and became lifelong friends with so many of her colleagues in her forty years with the Wealth Division.

Lisa enjoyed long walks around her Ardmore neighborhood and always took photos to share of the flowers and plants that interested her, as well as animals, especially bunnies. Many of her Facebook friends commented on how much they enjoyed her walks through the photos and stated that they could not pick just one of her photos as a favorite.

Lisa was a faithful member of Eden First Wesleyan Church, enjoying the music and messages each Sunday via the Facebook Live feed. But more than the church services, Lisa said that it was the members of the church and their phone calls, texts, cards, and messages of support that meant the world to her.

The family of Lisa Stowe wishes to thank the staff of Trellis Supportive Care Hospice Services of Winston Salem for their assistance in helping Lisa to stay in her home for the last weeks of her life. Lisa’s friends are too numerous to list each one, but the family wishes to especially thank Helga Gillespie, Don Robinson, Ed Hutchens, Cheryl Joyner, Deborah Casstevens, Carol Hoover, Marilyn Bilotti, Richard Hooley, Daniel Johansen, Tracy St. Marie, Jerry Pate, Sharon Frith, and Susan Vernon for their devotion and care of Lisa.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ida Stowe, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors include Sisters, Debra Stowe and Rita Stowe Smith of Eden, Uncle Steve and Aunt Brenda Joyce of Mooresville, Niece, Stacey Martin (Todd) and Great Nephew, Will Martin of Burlington, Nephew, Corey Smith (Heather) of Statesville, Cousins Danny and Helga Gillespie and family of Eden, and many others.

Memorials may be made to Eden First Wesleyan Building Fund, 607 Church Street, Eden, NC 27288, or Trellis Supportive Care (attention: Finance), 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

The funeral service will be live streamed on Eden First Wesleyan’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend.

Lisa IS a wonderful child of God and has fought a good fight and is now living an eternal life in God's Glory. Lisa touched so many with her wonderful outlook for life and keen sense of compassion, curiosity, beauty and LOVE. I am blessed to have worked with her and even more blessed to have called her my friend. Lisa still lives on.

Lisa's love for her extended family was always apparent to me. Debra, thank you for letting me visit with Lisa in the last few weeks. You are an angel on this earth!

We're called to love others. Lisa still lives her faith well!

I was honored to have Lisa's friendship for 28 years. We met on my first day of work at Wachovia in June 1996! Her kind and generous spirit was unparalleled. I was beyond inspired by her strength and courage throughout her cancer battle. I will remember her with fondness for the rest  of my days and remain thankful for her beautiful life. My sincere condolences to Debra and the rest of her family.

A ray of sunshine has been blocked in this world. Lisa will be as deeply missed as she was admired and loved in life. May her sisters and extended family be a support to one another in this sad time.

Lisa., so gently kind and with a quiet wit, had an  amazing appreciation of "everydayness" .

God landed us as freshman year roomates in room 206 at HPC ..one of us hyper, spinning in circles of inneffiacy....the other quietly observent, grounded, with a clever wit and intelligence that surpassed academics.. We shared a homesick feeling that would be erased by life experience and  connection as we shared thoughts, fears, dreams, popcorn, and pizza ( heated in the dryer at womens dorm..)  Her closet was often used to to shelter everything from rescued birds , friends who needed a safe space to reconsider the chopice of a date for a fraternity function, or hiding the evidence of bad grades..(never hers :).. .. Debra and Rita-   may her transcendence be felt as she remains with you all ways - always and forever.

Deb, I am so very sorry to hear of Lisa's passing.  We worked together for a number of years in the Training and Documentation dept. The last building we worked together in was the West End Center downtown. She always brought a smile to everyone's face then, and also in recent years with her precious posts on FB. I know you and Lisa were not only sisters, but best friends. My heat breaks for you and all of your family. Lisa was a true treasue that will be missed by anyone that knew her.BTW, I was the one that pulled the trick on Doughton with the blood capsules.  We had so much fun together and those days will stay in my heart forever. Sending love, hugs and prayers.
