Ernest Funderburk thought highly of Dan Squires as well as the whole Squires klan. I probably saw Mr. Squires twice many years ago. He left good deeds, a sterling reputation and a life of service and integrity. This role model will be missed here but the Angels will greet him. Buddy

I did not know Mr. Squires, but well remember listening to the Fieldcrest Quartet open the Fieldcrest program on WLOE on Sunday afternoons by singing "I had a dream dear, you had one too, Mine was the best dream because it was of you." It was the program theme song and perhaps the quartet's theme song. They were good and his contribution to the quartet and to my memories is much appreciated. God bless. James Adkins, Selmer, TN

Danny, I want to express the sadness and empathy for this loss to you. In the many attributes listed, I know your image and vision of him was far greater than the community. May God bless your family during this loss.

Dear Hazel, Danny, Gary and Families, We were saddened to hear of your loss. Dan was such a special person. All the times "The Gang" did so much together and all the trips they took together were so special to all 6 couples who were included. Mom and Dad always looked forward to their shared trips and fun times together. From the Y'Mens conventions to the beach trips to Cherry Grove to the yearly trek to Peaks of Otter Lodge to celebrate all their anniversaries-what good friends creating good memories together! What a great legacy Dan and all the gang leave behind. We should all be so lucky to have loving friendships like theirs. With love, Beth(Hairfield) and Tim and Family

Danny and Carla, I'm so sorry for your loss but know that Mr. Squires is having a wonderful time worshiping the Lord in "person." My favorite memory of the few times I met him was of the wonderful rendition of "God Bless America" he led us in at your rehearsal dinner. God bless you all during this difficult time. Katherine

To The Squires Family: I am truly sorry for the loss of your dear love one. During times like these, hearts are filled with pain and sorrow. However, please find comfort in God's promise found in the Bible at Revelation chapter 21, verse 4. It reads: "And he will wipe out every tear from thier eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." May God comfort you during these difficult times.

My heart goes out to each member of Dan's family. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Dan at the City of Eden. You could always count on his beautiful smile no matter what. His life speaks loudly for itself. Very few will ever serve his Country, his Community, his Church and still find the time to build his grand-daughter a play house. He was so proud of his boys and his precious Lynlee. I have been blessed to also work with Hazel. She is an angel on earth. I remember when she took her new pillows off her own bed for someone in need. My life has been truly blessed just to have known Dan. I will still go to see Hazel and know that she will open her arms to tell me how she loves me. Now if that isn't being blessed, I just don't know what is. Again I will keep you all in my prayers,as I know all too well the hole this leaves in your heart. Just remember that Smile and know God is also smiling as he says, Well Done My Faithful Servant.

I was so sorry to read about Mr. Squires passing. He worked with my father, John Searcy in the Fieldcrest Mills for many years and my brother Roy and I always looked up to him. He was always around and involved sports and helped us in many ways. I will always remember him with the fondest of memories.

Dear Hazel and family, we were so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. As a child, when I used to go to church with my grandmother (your former neighbor, the late Hazel Powell), Dan would often make funny faces and me make laugh. As I got older, we remained friends, and I realized what a pillar he was in the community and always admired him for that. He was a great man and I hope that wonderful memories will comfort you. My aunt, Dianne Powell, and my mother, Brenda [Powell] Griffith also send their condolences and prayers.
