SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT BILL'S DEATH.
JAMES AND GLENDA MCDONALD
I am Janie Payne Edmonds, and Billy Payne was my cousin. We lived in New York and could only go to Axton (Aiken Summit) in the summer when we were out of school and my father, Charlie Payne, had vacation. So we didn't see him (and Uncle William, Aunt Louise, and Louise) but a few days a year. Billy always cut a delightful figure to my younger, admiring eye. He was my cousin, and there is a missing place in the world because he has died. My brother, Charley Payne, mentioned as living in D.C., lives in Delaware. My name is also different: Janie Payne Edmonds these last 30 years.

I am the oldest daughter of Charlie and Jane Sugg. Bill was one of my mom and dad's best friends. We so loved him, he and Lou were part of our family for as long as I can remember. Dad and Bill were in the fishing club together, they bought a boat together, he would come by the house almost every Saturday, when dad died he would still come by the house as he would do every week. Bill was a fine Christian man and he will always be in my memories. What a blessing it was to have such a man in our lives. God Bless your family as you deal with Bill's Death, and rejoice in his homecoming in Heaven. Suzanne Sugg

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of Bill. I worked at American National Bank in Danville, VA, way back in the late 60's and got to know Bill. He was a great guy and always had some tale to tell. I know he will truly be missed by all who knew him. May our Good Lord reach out to all of you and comfort you.

I worked with Bill at the American National Bank in Danville, Va. for many years. His knowledge and proffessionalism were assets not only to the bank, but the lives he touched. I know he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My family and I were neighbors of the family in Aiken Summit. Our thoughts and prayers with you.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Payne's death. He was just in the bank on Monday for our retirees' luncheon. I worked with him for a number of years and I can never remember a time that he was not smiling and laughing and I will miss him greatly!
