Born May 24,1943, in Rockingham County NC, to the late Frederick W Harvey and Lillie M Harvey. Ralph attended Wentworth School and graduated with the class of 1962.

He began his working career at Fieldcrest Mills, Zarn Plastic, Good Year and Miller Brewery In addition to his main job on 3rd shift he always worked 1st shift driving for central ready Mix and then Johnston Nursey. Upon his first retirement he bought his on Rig and drove for another 10 years and retired for the second time. He was not one to sit at home, so he embarked out of retirement again to drive for Cundiff Trucking delivering Wood Chips. Ralph had a love for the highway if he wasn’t on them while working, he was enjoying them on his motorcycle. He had many adventures with his cousin Tommy Carter going down south and his long-time friend Harold Vassar out west and up thru Canada. He was always willing to help anyone in need he rode on numerous- charity rides to benefit children.

Ralph exemplified the virtues of hard work and determination throughout his life. His dedication and drive, and most importantly his faith carried him through life, earning him respect and admiration of all who crossed his path. His smile and bright eyes could brighten even the darkest of days, his greatest joy was found in the company of his loved ones when not behind the wheel. Ralph found his greatest strength in his unwavering faith, and his belief in the power of prayer. He was a faithful member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.

Ralph was met at Heavens Gates by his parents Fred and Lillie Harvey, and a host of others.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory children Becky Lipford (Bill), Jason Harvey, and Wendy Gilley (Mike), grandchildren Stephanie Criner, Katie Lipford, Tyler Lipford, Blake and Landon Harvey, Jonathan Balser, Megan Gilley Zielen and Montana Moore great grandchildren Charli, Carsyn Wyatt, Bayden, Henley, Koby and Layne. Brother Freddie Harvey (Jean) Sisters Carole Overby, Sarah Sutton (David) Laura Mae Shreve numerous nieces and nephews and his mighty protecting K-9’s Daisy and Hooch.

Though Ralph may no longer walk among us Earth side, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the cherished memories we will forever hold dear. In the laughter of his grandchildren and the stories shared around the dinner table by his siblings and children, his presence will be felt, a comforting reminder of the love that bound us all together and continue to guide us as we navigate the journey of life without him.

Your work here is done, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever. In his words “I’m not ready to go but I’m prepared” and what a testimony that is.

Rest in peace to a loving father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend

We enjoyed meeting Ralph and getting to know him.  He was a good fellow.  You will miss him every day but you have wonderful memories that will always help you get through the tough times.  He knows how much you loved him and how you looked after him.  No one else could have done better. Take comfort that he is not suffering anymore and is in heaven.

We were sorry to hear of your loss. Our deepest condolences to family and friends. I last saw Ralph about 2 months ago at the Barber Shop. He was doing well just to be out. He was a good man and hard worker. RIP

Ralph is one of many that has moved on to his special rewards in heaven.  He was one of my closest friends for 30 plus years. His faith in God was so encouraging to all who knew him. Ralph could light up a room when he walked in. We would talk to each other about our lives., where we thought we might end up or which way we would go. He always could cheer me up at my lowest point. And that special smile he had could make anyone feel better. The last time I saw him was at a funeral in Sandy Ridge for another one of our best friends. Pansy Korns. He was sick at that time but he wasn't going to miss her funeral. So I got a chance to see him and hug his neck and tell him how much I loved him. I will always remember that smiling face as long as I live. And I have thanked God for giving me such a special friendship with him.  And now he and Pansy, both will be watching over me.  I feel very blessed 🙏🏻

I met Ralph several years ago when I also went to work for Cundiff to satisfy my own itch to be on the road. I felt bad that I displaced Ralph from beint the oldest Cundiff driver, but we joked about it. We spoke frequently as I would check in on him by phone as his medical condition declined . A group of us were waiting for him to improve so we could take him out to lunch. I guess now we will have to be content to join him in Heaven for the banquet around Our Craetors Table.
