He will always be remembered as you share the stories and the memories of how he lived his life and how very much he meant, may you find comfort...And, throughout this difficult time, may you also know the deep sympathy and concern that is felt for you and all your family. I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith.-2Timothy 4:7. As for me, I will lie down that I may sleep; I shall certainly awake, for Jehovah himself keeps supporting me. -Psalms 3:5

Steve, Carl, Lisa & Katie I am so sorry to hear about Greg. I have many fond memories of being with the Newlin family. Greg was one of my favorite social studies teachers (as well as Steve). I truly think I enjoyed having him as a teacher because I knew him outside of school from our families being so close and living near each other. I am saddened by his passing but rejoice that he will be relieved from his earthly pains. May God bless each of you and give you comfort during this time. Much love to you all.

Katy: I worked with your dad many years ago at Holmes Jr. High. I taught up the hall from him and coached football with him. I always thought he was one of the best teachers I ever knew and the students thought he was special. He was kind, gentle, had a great sense of humor and truly cared for the many students who had the good fortune to have Mr. Newlin for a Social Studies teacher. I lost contact with Greg after I left Holmes, but my memories consist of having taught with a fine educator, gentleman and just a good person. I wish God's peace on you and your loved ones. He was a good guy! Wayne Tuggle

Mr. Newlin taught me in the 8th Grade at Holmes. He is the first reason I wanted to become a teacher. Although my road has led me into a different career, I am still attending school off and on to finish my teaching degree. Mr. Newlin was funny, caring, and a great teacher. He will be missed. My prayers are with the family.

I am so sad to learn of Greg's passing. Though the years are many since we were all at MHS, I still have such fond and fun memories of our big ole group and how we would travel the old Berry Hill Road and even farther out than that, gathering at various friend's houses (Tim Robert's house comes to mind)....and how we thought we were just so cool back then. His passing saddens me even though we had lost touch after college. I will keep the family in my prayers.

I absolutely loved Mr. Newlin. He made 7th and 8th grade great for me. I was deeply saddened when my cousin told me of his passing. His humor was like that of Robin Williams such a cool guy! May God keep you close Carla Murphy
