Lucille McAlister Patterson, 81, passed away Thursday evening, July 8, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 12, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Patterson was born February 4, 1929 in Rockingham County, NC, daughter of the late William Leonard and Mary Durham McAlister Earles. She was a member of Fieldcrest Road Church of God. Surviving are her three daughters, Mary P. Parrish and husband, Ronnie of Eden, Elaine P. Riggs and husband, Roy of Marietta, SC, and Virgie Iralene "Nina" Patterson and fiance, Curtis Merriman of Ridgeway, VA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Patteson; daughter, Ella Rae Patterson; grandson, David Dix; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Dix. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 54 Villa Road in Ridgeway, VA. We're so sorry about nanny passing away, but she's in a better place where there's no more hurting, she's still with her family but in a beautiful place and will be waiting for the rest of her family when the time comes for the to be called home to be with her, she will always be watching the family like she always did. Nanny is in GODS hands now and became one of his most special angels just so she could keep an eye on all of us, she was a very special lady to me and my family and i'm glad shes watching over me. I will miss her but shes home now, and every time i hear thunder i know it's her and David bowling and making them strikes
