Frances Washburn Thompson, 91, of Eden, died Thursday evening, July 11, 2013, at Morehead Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at North Spray Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Rockingham County on May 16, 1922, daughter of Charles Rucker and Nannie De Hart Washburn, both deceased. She was married to Bunyan Lee Thompson, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Harold Thompson, and his wife, Glenda, of Forest, Virginia; a granddaughter, Maria Loos, and her husband, Karl, of Rustburg, Virginia; a grandson, Kevin Thompson, of Richmond, Virginia; two great-granddaughters, Eva and Wesleigh Loos, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hallie Baker and Hazel McCollum, and brothers Audrey, Wilmer, Bethel (Badge), Andrew (Jack), and John (J.D.) Washburn.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Spray Christian Church, 521 Washburn Avenue, Eden, N.C. 27288.

I love thinking of my childhood memories of your parents and all the fun times at North Spray Christian Church events with all our families. Every time I drive past their old home on Ayden Road, I think of them and how special they were to us.

Harold, So very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I see she was 91 years old, which in itself is a blessing to you and your family to have had her all these years. I lost my Mother 10 years ago, so I know the pain you are going through. Trust me, it will get better with time and you will be blessed with the many memories of the good times that you shared.
