Marie Thacker Martin age 76, of 653 Paw Paw Road, Stoneville, passed away on Friday May 3, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on 4 pm Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.
Marie was born March 1, 1937 in Ridgeway to the late Albert Thacker and Mary Wilson Thacker. She was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, Class of 1955. Marie retired from Tultex in Martinsville after 30 + years of service. She was active in the United Methodist Women and loved being able to go Myrtle Beach.
Preceding her in death along with her parents was her husband Junior; a daughter Judy Martin and an infant brother, Irvin Thacker.
Surviving is a son, Mike Martin and wife Letitia of Ridgeway; brother, Ronnie Thacker and wife Phyllis of Ridgeway; granddaughter, Ashley Martin and her fiance, Thomas Foster and his daughter Emma all of Ridgeway; grandson, Brandon Martin and wife Lyla of Brainerd, Minn.; special friends, Elsie Gray, her longtime neighbor and Rev. Billy Towery and wife Karen of Charlotte.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 -8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at Marie's home.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during these days. I pray that God's presence be with you as you celebrate Marie's passing from the church militant to the church triumphant. Marie supported my ministry in words, actions, prayers and grace. I will always cherish her faith and love and these things will never be lost.
