Leona Mildred Talbott Spencer, 92, of Eden, NC, loving mother, grandmother and sister was called home on Saturday morning March 16, 2013.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sue Anne Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, Mrs. Spencer was born in Draper, NC on March 13, 1921, the eldest daughter of the late Rorer and Maude Francis Talbott. She retired from Fieldcrest Blanket Division in Draper and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Eden. She also volunteered for many years with the Red Cross blood drives and Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Spencer, daughter, Sandra Haigler, two brothers, Lawson and Allen Talbott, and three sisters, Donna Lawson, Doris Smith, and Elsie Chilton.
She is survived by her sister, Dolly Hopkins of Eden; three grandchildren, Tanya Donnelly and husband Latham of Greensboro, Lori Burgart of Winston-Salem, Jay Burgart and wife Jennifer of Newland; two great grandchildren, Kati and Kesha Gibson of Danville; great great granddaughter Brayla; and special in-laws Jack and Joyce Burgart of Stoneville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 til 2pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.
