Virginia Johnson Moorefield, 83, of 349 Garden Road in Eden, passed away early on Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 15, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Moorefield was born November 4, 1929 in Henry County, Virginia; daughter of the late Jesse and Maggie Nance Johnson. She was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills in the rug division.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Moorefield and wife, Phyllis of Eden and Robert Moorefield and wife, Linda, also of Eden; four grandchildren, Lori Wray and husband, Scott, Kevin Moorefield, Brittany Kedrick and husband, Dewayne and Robbie Moorefield; two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Ashlyn Wray; step-grandson, Bradley Yates of Stokesdale; step-granddaughter, Melinda Thompson of Eden; 2 step-great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Alexa Hall; nephew, Johnny Johnson and wife, Brenda of Bridgewater, VA; and niece, Brenda Hubbard of Natural Bridge Station, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Jackson "A.J" Moorefield.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Karb and to the staff at Hospice Home of Rockingham County, for all the care and support.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
