Sylvia Cochran Squires, age 96 of Greensboro, passed away on Saturday January 19, 2013 at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale where she has resided for the last three and a half years.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens , Rev. Bill Ellison will be officiating.

Mrs. Squires was born March 20, 1916 in Patrick County, VA to the late Wallace and Alice Hopkins Cochran. She was a longtime member of the West Market Street United Methodist Church and lifetime member of United Methodist Women. She loved and enjoyed bowling.

Preceding Mrs. Squires in death along with her parents was her husband, Cecil Squires and daughter Janice Lloyd, brothers, Virgil, Kermit and Curtis Cochran and sister Lenora Salmons.

Surviving are sons, Kenneth Squires and wife Peggy , Jim Squires and wife Jeana all of Greensboro, Jerry Squires of Mobile, AL., sisters, Goldie Pruitt and Louise Weddle of Eden, brother-in-law, Doby Salmons of Collinsville, VA. grandchildren, Gerald Squires and wife Susan, Michael Squires, Susan Holderfield and husband Barry , Richard Toliver, Joelle, Jenelle and James Squires; great grandchildren, Geoffrey,Brad, Matthew and Caleb; also many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
