Leesona Hamrick Vernon, 74, of 127 Dan River Church Rd., Eden, passed away early Tuesday morning January 1, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden. There will be a graveside service Saturday January 5th, 12:00 pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Vernon was born September 6, 1938 to the late Aubrey Hamrick and Evelyn Hamrick Pulliam. She was a long time member of Dan River Wesleyan Church of Eden. She worked at Dupont for many years and also worked at Winn Dixie as a cashier for 15 years.
Surviving are her husband James D. Vernon of the home, two daughters ,Julia Gouge of Stanley, NC, Sarita Vernon of Eden, NC, one brother David Hamrick of Eden, NC, two sisters Kay Shumpert of Atlanta, GA, Lena Murphy and husband Thomas of Bassett, VA, Special Family members Jimmy McBride of Eden, NC and Darryl Hodnett of Pelham, NC, two Grandchildren and one great grandchild all of Stanley, NC. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Eden Brian Center for their help and service.
Visitation will be Friday evening 6 until 8 pm at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Morehead Memorial Hospital Foundation Inc.; 117 East Kings Hwy, Eden, NC 27288-5201.
