Reverend Herman John Smith, 99, of 187 Country View Lane, went to Heaven with his Lord, early Saturday morning, December 1, 2012 at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden, NC.

A Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Resurection Life Church formerly know as Elliott Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church with pastors Tom Hazelwood and Billy Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Smith was born September 28, 1913 in Carroll County, VA to the late James and Lily Burnett Smith. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 40 plus years of service. He was the minister and member of Full Gospel Baptist Church in Axton, VA for over 60 years.

Preceding Rev. Smith in death along with his parents was his wife of 64 years, Augusta Smith; brothers, Cecil, Sherman, Ted and Willie Smith; sisters Laddie Alderman and Ada Rorrer.

Surviving are sons, Bobby Ray Smith and wife Helen of Lexington, Tommy Smith and wife Brenda of Eden, Doug Smith and wife Debbie of Ridgeway and Barry Smith of Eden; daughter, Donna Smith Kennon of Eden; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm on Monday evening at Fair Funeral Home and other times at sons home Tommy Smith 134 Floyd Road, Eden.
