Richard Lee Rickman, Sr., 84, of 122 Cedar Street in Eden, passed away Sunday evening, September 30, 2012 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 4, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Ashley Loop in Reidsville.

Mr. Rickman was born September 26, 1928 in Leaksville, NC, son of the late Benjamin Able Rickman and Lessie Boulding Rickman. He was a NC National Guard veteran with 25 years of service. Mr. Rickman was a retiree of Burlington Industries and was of the Moravian faith.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Isley Rickman of the home; son, Richard "Ricky" Lee Rickman, Jr. and Timothy "Tim" Raymond Rickman and wife, Sherrie, both of Eden; daughter, Debbie R. Stone and husband, John of Eden; three grandchildren, Jim Stone of Eden, Amanda Loftis and husband, J. R. of Pelham and Stacy Renee' Rickman; and sister, Iris Ford of Eden.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.

I will have fond memories of you in the national guard and being at Ft Bragg and Ft Stewart, Ga. His wittiness was very unique and generated lots of laughter at times. May God bless your family each day, especially during this time of loss.
