Grady Alvis Wilson, 75, of 161 Burroughs Drive in Stoneville, passed away Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 21, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.

Mr. Wilson was born November 7, 1936 in Henry County, Virginia, son of the late Grady H. and Annie Roberson Wilson. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired truck driver for Carolina Pacific Distributors and Mabe's Trucking Company.

He is survived by his wife, Misty Burroughs Wilson of the home; daughters, Macie Peters of the home, Lisa Mabe of Eden, Katina Wilson of Murrell's Inlet, SC and Jennifer Wilson of Martinsville, VA; son, Al Wilson of Charlotte and Jeffrey Horne; six grandchildren; six sisters, Irene Eanes of Roanoke, VA, Bobbie Wilson and husband, Phil of Eden, Lorene Grubb and husband, Eddie of Roanoke, Patsy Horsley and husband, Ronnie of Eden, Modene Willis and husband, Ron of Greensboro and Brenda Hopper and husband, Steve of Eden; and special friends, Wayne Odell and Debbie Whitlow.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother and a son, William Larry Horne.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Delores Wilson, Scottie Flynn and Hospice of Rockingham County for their care and support.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday evening at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

I'm so sorry to hear about Grady's passing. I never got the chance to meet him, but from my conversations with Misty, I can tell he was a very good man and a hard worker. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as he goes on to a better place.
