Guy Charleston Lester, 87, of Stoneville, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Morehead Nursing Center after several weeks of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 10, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Stoneville City Cemetery.
Mr. Lester was born in Rockingham County, NC on April 13, 1925, to the late Charlie and Lillie Thacker Lester. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted father and loved everyone. He loved bluegrass music, singing and dancing.
Mr. Lester is survived by his sons Greg Lester and wife, Sandy of Stoneville, Charlie Lester and wife, Tricia of Stoneville, Doug Lester of Greensboro, Franky Lester and wife, Barbara of Eden and Billy Lester and wife, Mary of Madison; sister, Hallie Stone of Richmond, VA; brother, Bobby Lester and wife, Pauline of Stoneville; daughter-in-law, Karen Lester; and special family member, Michael Cooke; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann McGee Lester; brother, Louie and Ted Lester; and sisters, Mozelle Bryant, Ruth Williams, Cassie Knight and Claudia Hurd.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Charlie Lester at 115 Lemons Street in Stoneville.
