Lois Norman, 85, of 906 Oakwood Drive in Eden, passed away Monday morning, July 23, 2012, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 25, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.

Mrs. Norman was born October 2, 1926 in Rockingham County, daughter of the late Arthur "W.A." Hatley and Bessie Saunders Hatley. She was a 1943 graduate of Leaksville High School and later graduated from Hollingsworth Comptometer in Charlotte, NC. The comptometer was the first commercially successful key-driven mechanical calculator and there was a high demand for these operators at one point in her career. Mrs. Norman was a retired insurance specialist for Fieldcrest Mills. She was a member of Leaksville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Guerrant Norman of the home; sister, Arlene Barrow and husband, Clay of Eden; nephews, Wayne Barrow and wife, Paula of Eden and Lee Norman and wife, Jane of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) on Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home.
