Eldee Benson Howell, 71, of 155 Roberts Road, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 4, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 7, at Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mr. Howell was born June 11, 1938, son of the late Eldee and Edith Washburn Howell. He was a retiree of the US Army, having served his country for 20 years. He saw tours of duty in both the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his four sons, Robert Howell and wife, Susie of Concord, Chuck Howell and wife, Betty of Eden, Tony Notarcola and wife, Serena of Eden, and Mark Howell and wife, Robin of Raleigh; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda James and husband, Joe, and Cathy Dooley and husband, George, all of Eden. There will be no formal visitation, however, the family will be meeting at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Betty Howell, 1983 River Chase Drive in Eden.
