Garnet Hudson Darnell, 84, passed away Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012, at Morehead Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 15, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Darnell was born August 13, 1927 in Rockingham County, NC, daughter of the late Sam and Ruth Gilley Hudson.
She is survived by her son, Gary Darnell and wife, Pat, of Eden; two grandchildren, Jason Darnell and wife, Brent of Greensboro and Richie Darnell and wife, Farrah of Eden; five great-grandchildren, Cade, Jed and Marti Darnell and Kinley and Addison Darnell; brother-in-law, Edd Thompson of Eden; sister-in-law, Maxine Hudson of Eden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Darnell; son, Larry Darnell; brother, Booker Hudson; and two sisters, Alles Farmer and Mary Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gary and Pat Darnell, 1989 River Chase in Eden.
In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests that memorial contributions may be made to Osborne Baptist Church, 326 E. Stadium Drive, Eden, NC 27288.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Morehead Nursing Center for their dedication and support. Your many acts of kindness will always be remembered.

Ms Darnell was not only a resident I cared for but she was my friend. That precious smile and kind greeting everytime I walked into her room will remain a precious memory for me. She was truly blessed to have such a loving family as you all are. She will be greatly missed. I truly hope the Lord will keep his arms around you and bring you peace in the days to come. I was very sorry to hear about Mrs. Darnell's passing. I did not kow until the following Monday, or I would have come to pay my respects. I remember her fondly from my days growing up at SBC, she was always such a nice lady. My sincere condolences to Jason, Richie, Gary and Pat.
