Earl Thomas Odell, 70, of 619 Cascade Avenue, Eden, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 8, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Odell Family Cemetery on Morgan Ford Road.
Mr. Odell was born June 30, 1941 in Henry County, VA, son of the late Fred H. and Bessie Gatewood Odell. He was previously employed by Ridgeway Clock for 10 years then spent 40 years working in carpentry and construction before becoming the co-owner of Portia's Country Crafts.
He is survived by his wife, Portia Hall Odell of the home; sons, Todd Wayne Odell and Don Travis Odell and wife, Trish of Eden; daughters, Betty Jo Martin and husband, Stan and Wendy Price and husband, Freddy of Eden; brothers, Jimmy Vincent Odell and wife, Nancy and Alfred V. Odell and wife, Marie of Eden; six grandchildren, Holly, Travis and Seth Odell, Brittany Fagge, Kenneth Martin and Nicholas Price; one great-grandchild, Aaron Michael Fagge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home.

At times like this, I have found Jesus Christs' words at John 5:28,29 to be very comforting where he promised that "the hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...to a resurrection of life." We also have the comforting assurance at Revelation 21:3,4 that soon "God will wipe out every tear from our eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore."
