Ruby Jones Pruitt Johnson, 87, of 206 Merriman Street, passed away Monday evening, March 1, 2010 at Brian Center of Eden. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 5, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Johnson was born November 2, 1922 in Rockingham County, daughter of the late Earnest and Katie Chilton Jones. She was a member of Draper Christian Church and a retiree of Spray Cotton Mill. Mrs. Johnson later worked for Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving are her daughters, Rebecca Pruitt of Eden, Patricia Jane Sattenfield of Greensboro, and Geraldine P. Garrell and husband, Richard of Reidsville; sisters, Peggy Perry of Eden, Jo Ann Nichols of Rocky Mount, VA, and Norita Koury of Deland, FL; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Willie Pruitt; second husband, T. W. Johnson; son, Jerry Wayne Pruitt; sisters, Mildred Roach, Doris Kennon, Margaret Mayes, and most recently, Ethel Jones Pruitt; and brother, James Jones. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gene & Linda Kallam, 224 Farrell Street in Eden.
