Joseph Delbert Glasgow, Jr., "J.D." 88, of Coleman St., Eden, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon April 21, 2012 after a long illness with heart problems. The funeral service will Wednesday 2pm April 25 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.

J.D. was the son of the late Joseph Delbert Glasgow Sr. and Myrtle Edwards Glasgow born June 17, 1923, in L:eaksville, NC. He was the grandson of the late william Ceasar Glasgow. He was also married to the former Elaine Hundley for 62 beautiful years. J.D. was an outstanding athlete at the old Leaksville High School. Excelling in baseball and football. He had been offered two scholarships from two different colleges. Pearl Harbor happened and in his last few months of school he choose to join the Navy rather than be drafted into the Army. Serving fours years and reaching gunners mate 2nd class, he served in several invasions. He was awarded the Bronze Star and other awards for bravery. On returning from the war and all scholarships gone, he worked as a long distance driver for several major companies for 40 years. He then retired from General Electric. J.D. was a member of Spray Baptist Church Along with all of his family. He also was a member of Teamsters local #391 and Chicago International #710. His love for sports continued all of his life with him coaching all of his children and grandchildren, including any child that wanted to learn the game. He worked with the YMCA and Boys Club, along with attending every football game he could, as long as he could walk the field. He will be greatly missed by his family and people who remember him.

He leaves three children; Greg and Scott Glasgow and Lisa Robin all of Eden, NC. In addition to his parent he is preceded by one son Jay "Bart" Glasgow. Five grandchildren who were the light of his life; Brandy Reaves of Eden, NC, Justin Glasgow of Raleigh, NC, Graham Glasgow of Columbia, SC, Joe Glasgow of the home, Meagan Elaine Glasgow of Eden, NC, and two great grandchildren Katlyn Gray Richardson and his special buddy that made his life go round, James Wyatt Reaves. He leaves one sister Barbara Simmons of Oakridge, TN, and two nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 7 until 9pm at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

Mr Glasgow was a great man, who loved his family. I loved seeing him come into the shop to get his hair cut, he always made me laugh,he had a great sense of humor, I will miss him. My sympathy goes out to Mrs Glasgoe,Robin,and all his family.
