Margaret Martin Shelton, 72, of Hicks Street in Ridgeway, passed away Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, April 15, at Wayside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.
Mrs. Shelton was born December 28, 1939, daughter of the late Walter Amos Martin and Mary Arnder Martin. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and a retiree of Sara Lee Corporation.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Griffin and husband, David of Ridgeway; grandson, Ryan David Griffin of Ridgeway; great-grandson, Logan Ray Long of Eden; sister, Aileen Turner of Farmville, NC; and brother Cecil Martin of Stoneville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Shelton; grandson, Lonnie Ray Long, Jr.; brothers, Troy and Wayne Martin; and a sister, Christine Shaffer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday (2 - 3 PM) at Wayside Baptist Church, and other times at the residence, 138 Hicks Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Baptist Church, 1256 Morehead Avenue, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
