Anna Magdalene Cook Gibson, 96,of 532 Franklin Drive, passed away Thursday morning, March 15, 2012, at her home.

A funeral service will be held 4 pm Sunday at St. Lukes Episcopal Church with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Gibson was born September 4, 1915 in Spray (Eden), NC to the late Augustus and Cora Self Cook. She graduated from Leaksville High School and worked at Leaksville Woolen Mills. She retired from Eden City Schools, working and managing the cafeteria at North Spray Elementary School. Magdalene was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School and was longtime treasuer of the ECW. She loved the work of the altar guild at her church.

Along with her parents , she was preceded in death by her husband O.C. "Son" Gibson; daughter, Sylvia Gibson Alcorn, and granddaughter, Alice Beth Alcorn.

Surviving are daughters; Frances Craddock of Eden, Anna Carter and husband Tommy of Ridgeway, VA; son, Neil Gibson and wife Debra of Ridgeway;brother, Melvin Cook and wife Gaynelle of Eden ; grandchildren, Karen A. Setliff of Salisbury; Lee Craddock of Ridgeway and Joey Wilson of Los Osos, CA.; great grandchildren, Emily Setliff, John Setliff, Jim Craddock and Casey Craddock.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Tapper and his staff for all the wonderful assistance they have given the family. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 6-8 pm at St. Lukes Episcopal Church and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Lukes Episcopal Church , 600 Morgan Road, Eden, NC 27288.
