Charles Hallard Lester, 79, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 14, at Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.
A native of Rockingham County, Mr. Lester was born October 19, 1932 , son of the late Arthur Randolph Lester and Annie Shively Lester. He was a retiree of Sweetheart Cup Company in Augusta, GA.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Vowinkel of Wilmington and Tina Hughes of Bethesda, MD; sons Charles H. Lester, Jr. of Jonquin, TX, Jerry Lester and Jimmy Lester of Eden; his ex-wife, Doris Lester of Eden; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Hudson and husband, Edward of Eden, Gail Eisbache and Russile Disher, both of Stoneville; brothers, Mark Fulcher and Eddie Fulcher; caregiver and brother-in-law, Willie Meadows and wife, Jamie of Eden; and special nieces, Angela Compton and Billie Jo Walker, of Eden.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy L. Meadows.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his niece, Billie Jo Walker at 1278 Lincoln Street in Eden.
