Albert Bryant Sumner, Sr., 96, passed away early Monday morning, January 30, 2012, at Morehead Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 1, at Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Sumner was born September 19, 1915 in Martinsville, VA, son of the late Lewis Carl Sumner and Cordia Burcham Sumner. He was a member of Spray Baptist Church and was an US Army veteran. Mr. Sumner retired from Karastan Rug Mill. Surviving are his wife, Lucinda Leffew Sumner of the home; son, Albert B. Sumner, Jr. of Aberdeen, NC; step-daughter, Brenda M. Denny and husband, Reggie of Eden; four grandchildren, Chuck Denny and wife, Kristine, Diana Denny and Mark Ferderer, Caleb Sumner and Mariah Sumner; and two great-grandchildren, Zack and Andrew Ferderer. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
Our family was so sorry to hear of Mr. Sumner's death. I personally have many fond memories growing up and spending time with my aunt and uncle, Aubiere and Bill Leffew, and the Sumner family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
