William "Jerry" Gerald Watkins, 71, of 422 Lake Street passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 31, at Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville. Mr. Watkins was born October 16, 1940 in Rockingham County, son of the late William Jefferson Watkins and Catherine Baynes Watkins. He was a US Army veteran. In his spare time he enjoyed flower gardening and model trains. Surviving are his fiancee', Beth Evans of the home; and brother, Paul David Watkins. I was in school with Gerald, but have not seen him since finish school. Have thought of him many times, and wondered where he was, have also ask about him at class reunions. We went all the way through school together at Lawsonville School in Reidsville, NC.I knew all of the family and they were real good people. I remember Gerald loved to draw cartoon characters. You could walk by his desk any day and any time and he was always drawing. He was a good guy and will be missed. God Bless you Beth in your future. God Bless Mrs Watkins and son.
