Ruth Elaine Wickham Clifton, 79, of 826 E. Meadow Road in Eden, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 29, at Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Clifton was born November 12, 1916 in Rockingham County, NC, daughter of the late Lemuel and Dinah Wickham. She and her late husband, Jesse Clifton, moved out west for 38 years to start their own business. Later they returned to Eden after their retirement. Surviving are her two nieces, Shirley Anderson of Arizona and Gloria Trent of Eden; sisters-in-law's, Frances Goins, Dale Sutliff and husband, Frank, and Lorene Collins; and numerous step-nieces and step-nephews whom she considered her own grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home on E. Meadow Road on Wednesday, however, you may pay your respects at Fair Funeral Home at other times.
