Donald Lee Barnes, 62, of 14102 Highway 87 North in Eden, passed away Friday morning, December 23, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital . A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 27, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Barnes was born May 13, 1950 in Rockingham County, son of the late John Hanna and Margaret Edwards Barnes. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and a member of the local American Legion. Surviving are his daughter, Frances Gail Fallin of Martinsville, VA; son, Gary Lee Barnes of Texas; three granddaughters and one great-grandson. Also surviving are his five brothers, Jerry Barnes and wife, Connie, Steve F. Barnes, Milton Lee Barnes, Kenneth Mark "Shorty" Barnes and James Lee "Mac" Barnes; and two sisters, Ruth Elaine Ladd and husband, Albert and Brenda Ann Barnes. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his brother, Mac, 695 Roberts Road in Eden.
