James Reid Hailey, 99, of 1214 Second Street, passed away Wednesday evening, November 30, 2011 at Brian Center in Eden. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 3, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hailey was born April 12, 1912 in Leaksville, NC, son of the late Percy "P.T." Hailey and Minnie Smith Hailey. He was a retired night watchman for Fieldcrest Mills. Mr. Hailey had a great love of steam trains and steam engines. He was an avid reader and also a loyal Atlanta Braves fan. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Surviving are his brother, Melvin S. Haley and wife, Grace of Macon, GA; special nephew, Jeff Kallam of the home; his dear friend, Jerine Patterson; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, P. T. "Peach" Hailey; and sisters, Edna Hailey Kallam, Annie Ruth Hailey Barksdale and Mary Lilly Hailey Self. To Jeff and family. Alex and I are so very sorry our precious Uncle Reid has gone on to be with his family. I cried because we have had such a very long time to love him and be so proud of him. I never knew he had a first name tho. I know you will feel the void more than anybody else and miss him so much. He is not suffering now, thank God.
