Louise Payne Lamb, 83, of 5193 Axton Road, passed away early Sunday morning, February 14, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Martinsville, VA. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, February 18, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Axton. Mrs. Lamb was born December 30, 1926 in Wilmington, NC, daughter of the late William Carter and Louise Shields Payne. She was a graduate of Women's College in Greensboro, Class of '48, and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Mrs. Lamb was a retiree of Bank of America where she worked for many years as a loan officer. Surviving is her brother, William "Bill" Payne, Jr. of Axton, VA; and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home. However, friends and family are welcome to come by to pay their respects at any time on Wednesday or Thursday prior to the funeral. Bill, I was so sad to hear that Lou had passed away. I am unable to come to the funeral but please know that you are in my thoughts and prays today. There are so many great memories that rush into my mind when I think of you and Lou spending time with mom and dad. They truly loved both of you, I am so glad that I have those memories, they truly make me smile. Thank you for the memories and love that you and Lou shared with my family over the years.
