William "Wayne" Finney, age 58,of 6908 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin,NC passed away on Friday morning October 7, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital. The funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Eden with entombment to follow at Overlook Mausoleum in Overlook Cemetery. Mr. Finney was born in Leaksville, NC to the late Fletcher Jackson "Jack" and Elizabeth Grubbs Finney. Wayne was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in the Eden Office and he formerly worked as an insurance agent with Peoples Life and Southern Life Insurance Companies. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. Preceding him in death along with his parents were brothers; Dillard and George Finney. Surviving his is wife; Joanne Harris Finney of the home, daughters; April Barford of Reidsville and Crystal Wright and fiance , Daniel Purcell of Eden, sisters; Shirley Curry of Greensboro and Betsy Warren and husband Johnny of Ruffin, grandchildren; Avery Wright, Tyler Wright and Reagan Barford, three feline "babies"; Porkchop, Little Bear and Miss Kitty. Mr. Finney's request was to be brought back to his home before the funeral service. The family will formally receive friends at the home from 3 - 6 pm on Sunday and due to the small space, all flowers sent by friends will be brought to Fair Funeral Home til the day of the service. Especially to my sister Joanne and daughters, April and Crystal...Wayne always had something funny to say, was friendly to everyone and a good Husband and Daddy. I will always remember our last visit together, this past Sunday at Moses Cone Hospital. So thankful for this memory...Wayne will be missed by many but our "Lost is Heaven Gain".
