Reba Meadows Mitchell, 79, formerly of Pine Road in Eden, passed away Thursday morning, September 29, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 2, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Mitchell was born December 22, 1931, daughter of the late Posey Wyatt and Carrie Meeks Meadows. She was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church and a retiree of Karastan Rug Mill. Surviving are her sister, Oneva Kernodle of Reidsville; brother, William "Bill" Meadows of Eden; nieces, Judith H. Martin and Joan W. Purdy and husband, Cecil; and two nephews, Doug Williams and wife, Lynn and Posey Meadows, Jr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Randolf Mitchell; and nine siblings, Thelma Meadows, Ruby Thomas, Posey Meadows, Sr., Maeoma Williams, Gladstone Meadows, Hazel Holland, Lillie Oakley, Jack Meadows and Nancy Caudle. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Judith Martin, 106 Corn Tassel Trail in Stoneville. Oneva and Bill, I was so surprised to see Reba's name on Fair's web page. Sweet has just taught me about it. Please know how my heart hurts for you both. I have So many wonderful memories with all of you. I could hardly wait when I was small for Granddaddy to bring me over. Even as a child and then as a young adult I could always feel and see So much Love and Concern for everyone there. I always told Moma that Reba had to be the kindess and loving person I knew. I will never forget her gentle,quiteand sweet way. I wish I had know earlier so I could have visited. I miss families staying close as they did when we were young. I would love to see you both.
