Stephen "Jack" Woods, 77, of 1726 South Ave., went home to be with the Lord, Saturday August, 6th 2011. Funeral service will be held Monday August 8th, 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Draper, with burial to follow in Danview Cemetery in Eden. Fair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. "Jack" was born in Rockingham County, NC September 30th, 1933 to the late William Edgar and Lillian Draper Woods. He was retired from Sam Smith Construction and was a member of First Baptist Church of Draper where he served as an usher for many years. "Jack" is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia Harris Woods of the home, Two Daughters; Robin Woods South and Kim Woods both of Eden, Son Jeff Woods and wife Teresa of Salisbury, NC, Granddaughter Lorilee South and Step Granddaughter Sheryl Casper, one Step Great Grandson Hunter Casper, and special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his Son Stephen "Randy" Woods, Sisters; Annie W. Cochran, Mallie W. Mason Weatherford, Belle W. Vernon, Half Sister Mabel Stovall, Brothers; Thomas E. Woods, Sandy "Pete" Woods, David Woods. The family will receive friends Sunday August 7th at Fair Funeral Home from 6 until 8pm and at times at the home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Draper; 1017 Fieldcrest Rd. Eden, NC 27288, and Hospice Of Rockingham County; 2150 NC Hwy 65 Wentworth, NC 27375.
Sylvia & Family, Jack was such a blessing to us. We have missed seeing his smiling face at church and he will be sorely missed. May God give you strength and comfort as you face the days ahead. One thing for sure is we'll see him again someday! We love you and you will be in our prayers.

My condolences are with the Woods family for the passing of your love one. Finding the right words to say to your family for what you are experiencing at this time is very difficult. God's word the Bible provides the greatest confort to your family. Jesus compassion for those who have passed away outlined the resurrection hope for Jack is found at John 5:28,29. So, rely on the God of all comfort Jehovah who "near those broken at heart and crushed in spirit"(Psalms 34:18). James 4:8 says "Draw close to God and he will draw close to you especially at this time.
