Bud was one of my many blessings after going to work at the Eden Chamber. I will never forget his smile and his gentlemanly ways. He had a way of making you feel special every time you saw him. I loved to hear him talk about his "honeypot" Phyllis. I will never forget "my buddy". RIP, Bud. I love you.

Bud greeted life with an ever-present smile. His positive attitude and his cheerful disposition made all who knew him feel important in his company. His charisma allowed him to influence and lead others positively. Always the gracious, polite, helpful gentleman, Bud was simply nice to be around! He (with Phyllis by his side) participated in several study courses that I have taught over the years at Leaksville United Methodist Church, and he was dedicated in attendance and participation. When I think of Bud, I think of Phyllis with my next breath. Both have always been gentle, loving, caring, and devoted to each other. They modeled for us all how to make the mature years of our living joyful and abundantly happy. I almost always found Bud with a book in his hands. His love of reading and his interest in the arts immediately connected us because of mutual interests. He liked many of the same events that I do. He loved attending plays at Triad Stage and couldn‚Äö?Ñ?¥t wait to hear my review of the latest one. I will miss him at every single opening next year. Our paths crossed often, and because we belonged to several of the same organizations, I will miss him at all of them. I have lost a friend whom I admire. Our church has to say farewell to a wonderful supporter and worshiper, and my friend Phyllis has lost the love of her mature years. I am sad that I won‚Äö?Ñ?¥t look up to see Bud enter the next class I teach with a smile on his face, with the tip of his hat in his hand, and with his Bible in his arms ready to study and learn more about the faith that was an integral part of this wonderful man‚Äö?Ñ?¥s life. Phyllis, we will help take care of you. I can only imagine the void you must feel today. Please know that the Ragans send deepest sympathy and love.

He was the kind of man who, when he spoke, everyone stopped to listen because you just knew he had something worthwhile to say. Our prayers are with you in the next days, we know how hard the grief is while rejoicing that you will see him again one day. David Clay and Corina
