Billie K. Wright, 50, of 134 N. Hamilton Street, passed away Friday morning, July 8, 2011 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, July 11, at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Ms. Wright was born April 21, 1961 in Surry County, NC. She was a 1979 graduate of Morehead High School. Ms. Wright was currently a police officer with the Reidsville Police Department, a DARE officer and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police. Surviving is her daughter, Alexandrea "Ali" Wright of Eden; her parents, Bill and Peggy Myers Shreve of Eden; sisters, Robin Shreve and Rene Mabe; brother-in-law, Keith Mabe; nephew, Dakota Mabe; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her parents at 224 Bryant Street in Eden. We had the best time working for the Sheriff's Office as dispatchers and later as DARE officers together. Whenever I needed a hand, whatever it was, she was the first to help me. She wasn't just a co-worker or a fellow law enforcement officer -- she was my friend too. God needed someone dependable this day, and he called for Billie K. to come home. Dear Billie's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Billie was such an awesome person, she was amazing when it came to young people. I work at RMS and she would come over and teach our 6th grade, Gang Prevention, she was a great teacher also, the students enjoyed her presence very much, she just had a way with the students, they knew that she cared for them. I always admired Billie's amazing smile and laugh, she could light up a room with her presence. She fought the fight, it was a hard one, with that dreadful disease.
