Wayne Edward Barker

February 3, 1946 – March 10, 2024

Wayne entered the glory of Heaven on March 10, 2024.

He is healed and in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

There will be no formal service.  His family and friends will meet at a later date to celebrate his life and home going.

Wayne was born in Stoneville, NC to Jack and Lillie Barker and grew up with eight siblings.  He was predeceased by his father and mother, his sisters, Dorothy Bibee, Becky Dunlap, Brenda Land and Virginia Hinton and by his brothers, Jack Barker and Billy Barker.  His beloved grandson, Jacob Clark also predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Pam Barker, his children, Brandy Barker, Wayne Barker (Amber) and his sisters, Nancy Tussey (Lonnie) and Ruth Barker, his grandson Sam Barker and his brother-in-law Kerry Gibson and wife Sandra.

Wayne was a member of Osborne Baptist Church.  He loved his church and his church family who were such a blessing to him throughout his illness.  Before his cancer diagnosis, he spent many hours volunteering in church maintenance and was honored to be able to go on mission trips with the church to Costa Rica and Columbus, OH.  He also served with NC Baptists on Mission/Disaster Relief helping in various areas of the state that had been hit by natural disasters.  He was a Vietnam Veteran having served our country 1965-1966.

He and his family want to extend their deepest gratitude for the care his medical team at Wesley Long Cancer Center provided during his two years of treatment there, especially his oncologist, Dr. Mohamed Mohamed and to Ancora Compassionate Care for their invaluable support during his final year at home.  We could not have asked for better care than was provided by Tabitha, his nurse and the whole team at Ancora.

In lieu of flowers, he asked for donations to be made to Ancora Compassionate Care 2150 NC Hwy. 65, Reidsville, NC 27320 or Osborne Baptist Church, 326 E Stadium Drive, Eden, NC  27288

Prayers for Pam and the family. We have lost a great friend and neighbor. A fellow Vietnam Veteran who was a member of A.L. Post 254 in Eden. Wayne spent a lot of his life helping others which tells you what a caring individual he was for helping others in need.
