For the Family of Mr. Barry Bateman..... I work at Central Elementary and was a past student of Mr. Bateman's. Caleb has been in several classes I work with at Central. He came to me and told me about his grandfather because I had told him how I admired his grandfather as one of my favorite teachers while I was at Holmes. Know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. God will grant you the peace to endure this loss in your Earthly lives. And, then one day YOU will all be reunited in Heaven.

Mr. Bateman was one of my favorite teachers. Although I only had him for home room, he managed to have a very good sense of humor when it came to the mischief that Billie Jean and I sometimes caused. He often laughed with us and shooed us away to the appropriate place that we should be. Just a lovely, generous, kind hearted man who will forever be remembered as one of my favorites. My prayers are with you and your family at this time. Thank you for sharing him with us.

To the family of Mr Bateman: First I would like to say I had the privledge to work with Mr. Bateman when he was Assistant Principal at Moss Street School. He was such a wonderful person to work for and such a caring individual. My son was a 5 grader at the time and now he is 20 years old. Mr Bateman and my son used to talk old money and he would occasionly take Matthew for a ride to Intermediate school which was right up the hill from Moss St in his red CORVETTE. Matthew thought that was really something to go riding in Mr Bateman's Red CORVETTE. I send Mr Bateman a invitation for Matthew's Graduation Party back in June 2009, never heard from him, so I often wondered how he was. Mr. Bateman was such a gentleman and a great individual to work with. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, may the memories of your loved ones get you through this difficult time.

I‚Äö?Ñ?¥ll never forget the first day I sat in Mr. Bateman‚Äö?Ñ?¥s classroom at Holmes. He walked in the door, swung it shut behind him, and introduced himself to the class. He said he was, first and foremost, a Christian and made it very clear that this was his number one role in life. The list went on as husband, father, teacher, etc., but I have always remembered his personal testimony on that day. He taught history, but he also taught us how to be joyful, to work hard and to be good people. It‚Äö?Ñ?¥s been an honor to know him. His legacy will continue on forever. My condolences to the family. May God bless you and keep you.

Dear Sharon, Chris, & Ashley Sorry in the loss of your husband and father. I never really knew barry personaly, but from reading about him, he was a very strong man of his faith in the lord. It's very hard and heartbreaking to loose a mother or father that wanted all the best for us in life. They loved and raised us up in the right way, so that we would become fine people later on in life. Thank you sharon, for offering me another job at mohawk 15 years ago. Miss you at karastan, but know it was your calling, to take care of your family, because our family comes first. May god, give you all peace and comfort in this difficult time. Jeff Rakestraw
