Visitacion Lawas Hicks, 87, of 994 Burton Street, passed away Wednesday, May 4, at Morehead Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 7, at St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Hicks was born July 3, 1923 in the Phillipines, daughter of the late Alfonso Lawas and Barbara Matogas Lawas. She was a member of St. Joseph of the Hills and was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving is her husband, James Hicks of the home; daughter, Eva Webb of Eden; son, Marlon Comahig and wife, Maria of Eden; granddaughters, Anastasia Webb of Eden, Gretchen Webb of Greensboro, Kathy Comahig, Jade Rabutan, and Lovella Hailey; great-grandson, Damon Johnson; brothers, Abelardo, Armanda, and Roberto Comahig; sister, Eulalia Jonem; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 256 Country Club Drive in Eden. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
