Carolyn Hope Lamar Sizemore, age 86 of 302 S. Kennedy Street Apt. 221, Arbor Ridge , passed away early Sunday morning May 1, 2011 at her home. Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Sizemore was the youngest of ten children born to Gary McKenzie Lamar and Mattie Pruitt Lamar on June 2, 1924. She grew up in the Spray section of Eden, and graduated from Leaksville High School and went on to receive her RN degree from Watts Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She worked at the old Leaksville Hospital and for several doctor's in the Eden area and later worked for Morehead Memorial Hospital. In 1950 she was married to Fred M. Sizemore, Jr. and they lived for many years on Harris Street , before moving to Arbor Ridge of Eden a little over 2 years ago. She was a member of Spray Baptist Church. Mrs. Sizemore enjoyed sewing, knitting , crocheting and quilting as her hobbies. Preceding her in death along with her parents, were brothers; Quesell, James, George, Joseph, Ernest, Russell and Robert Lamar, sisters; Nell Osborne and Lillie Woodlieff. Surviving is her husband Fred of the home, sons; Clark Lamar Sizemore of Winston Salem and Joseph Timothy Sizemore and wife Linda of Freehold, N.J. , one daughter; Sarah Sizemore Talley and husband Russell of Winston Salem, grandchildren; David Sizemore and wife Kari, Russ Talley, Daniel Sizemore and Julia Sizemore, niece; Martha Woodlieff and great neice Katie Ellen Woodlieff, and numerous other neices and nephews. Mr. Sizemore, Clark, Tim and Sarah, and the entire family, my heartfelt condolences at the loss of your wife and mother. She was a special woman who was always kind and thoughtful. I was a young boy when he married Carolyn. She was a beautiful bride. I told Mom that he deserved such a great wife. I am so sorry about your loss-she was a wonderful woman and a great nurse. I grew up on West Ave and loved seeing her waving at me when I rode my bike. I later in life went to work at Morehead Hospital God be with all of you.
