Ruth Shropshire Dattero, 81, of 631 Fagg Dr., passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, January 28, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. A Rockingham County native, Mrs. Dattero was born September 6, 1928, daughter of the late Bland Milton and Ethel Murphy Shropshire. She was a retiree of Karastan Mills and was most recently employed by Chaney's Restaurant in Eden. Surviving is her son, Jimmy Shropshire and wife, Mira of Reidsville; one grandson, Ryan Shropshire and wife, Jessica of Dover, DE; one great-grandchild, Jaiden Shropshire, also of Dover; brother, Joseph Shropshire of Stoneville; and sister, Becky Shropshire of Eden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Dattero. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday (3 - 4 PM) at Fair Funeral Home. Ruth was a special lady and fun to be around, I bowled with her for years until I moved out of town. Becky, I'm sure it was you that Ruth used to go to Florida with. It's a small world but my neighbors and friends, Paul and Teenie Roland, Kittrell, N.C. met Ruth with you in Florida,when they would go and stay about six months every year.
