Mildred Jones Cassell, 90, of Eden, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth. A funeral service will be held Friday April 8th 11:00 am at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Cassell was born May 24, 1920, daughter of the late Ulrich "Buck" Jones and Theresa Shockley Jones. She was a member of Spray Baptist Church and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving are her daughters, Arlene Gardner and husband, David and Teresa Woods and husband, Jeff; son Alan Cassell and wife, Evon of Oakton, VA; brothers, Lawson Jones of Eden and Louis Jones of Burlington; four grandchildren, Mitch Gardner, Cheryl Casper, Jonathan Gardner, and Brad Cassell; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Casper and Aiden Gardner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Arley Cassell; and her brother Tommie Jones. The family will receive friends Thursday evening April 7th at Fair Funeral Home from 6:30pm until 8:00pm and other times at 201 Fairway Dr., in Eden. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Rockingham County; 2150 Hwy NC 65 N Wentworth, NC 27320. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
