Michael "Mike" Leroy Jackson, 57, formerly of Stoneville and more recently of Greensboro, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, April 9, at Providence Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Jackson was born July 11, 1953 in Leaksville, NC (now Eden), son of the late Henry and Lucy Carter Jackson. He was a 1971 graduate of Stoneville High School and attended Rockingham Community College. Mr. Jackson was a former employee of Sears and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Surviving is his sister, Janet Gorham and husband, Kevin of Greensboro; brother, Jim Jackson and wife, Tammy of Raleigh; niece, Billie Jackson Burdis; and nephews, Carey Jackson, Sean Gorham and Coley Gorham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church from 11 - 12 P.M. and following the service at the home of Janet Gorham, Greensboro. I want to express my sympathies to the Jackson family for the loss of Michael. The passing of your love one is a daunting experience which adversely impacts your family. Your faith in the resurrection hope for Michael Jesus spoke of is comforting. Jesus said at John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me even though he dies will live". Praying also is comforting for your family because Jesus prayed to his heavenly father Jehovah God for comfort and strength. Psalms says God is near those broken at heart and crushed in spirit.
