Paul Daniel Wilson, 62, of 3297 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at his home. The funeral service will be Monday, April 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Willis Memorial Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Danview Cemetery. Paul Wilson was born November 9, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Percy Franklin and Sarah Smith Wilson. He worked at Centel Telephone Company for 15 years as an installer, and also worked at One Source Technologies for over 20 years in communications. He was a member of Willis Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 - 1970. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Carpenter Wilson of the home; two daughters, Penny Wilson of Eden, NC and April Davis of Danville, VA; two brothers, Lynwood Wilson and Phillip Wilson both of Eden, NC; four sisters, Peggy Wright of Eden, NC, Diane Wright of McLeansville, NC, Yvone Atkins of Madison, NC and Nancy Callahan of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews, and faithful companion "Snickers", his beloved dog. He is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Wilson and a sister, Barbara Jean Walden. He shared, loved and taught his appreciation for the great outdoors. He was also a diehard Tarheel fan win or lose. He shared and received a special love and tenderness with his sister in laws; Alice McBride, Angie Setliff, and Lisa Booth til the very end. The visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home. Aunt Marsha, we have always been there for each and we will continue to be there for each other. I'm so lucky to be able to call you and paul "Aunt Marsh and Uncle Paul." When I was just a lil boy I can remember getting so excite that my Uncle Paul was coming to get me and I was gonna spend the weekend with yall. There are things that I did with him I will NEVER EVER forget. The past year I hae thoroughly enjoyed with him. He and I got to be "breakfast buddies." You know I love yall so much. He was a man who I could go to and talk to and I didn't have to worry about being judged. I will see you later. Just know that I'm a phone call and 4 miles away and if you ever need me CALL ME. Dear Marsha, Penny ans April, I am so saddened by Paul's passing, he was such a great person so full of life and laughter. He had such a kind heart but tried to hide it with that tough exterior. Instead of being a grissly bear he was a big old teddy bear. I will miss him but whenever I think of him I will always smile. He and mom had a special relationship, she loved him so. They are together again and I'm sure they are smiling down on us. I love you guys and am here if you need me.
