Mildred “Millie” Louise Handy Lancaster, 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Annie Penn Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17th at 2pm at New Beginning Apostolic Church. Interment will be at Overlook Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 1 to 2pm also at the church.

Mildred was born on December 22, 1958, in Rockingham County, to the late Robert Benjamin Handy and Mary Pruitt Handy.

Mildred graduated from Stoneville High School in 1977 and from Rockingham Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Administration. She worked at GTE Sylvania which later became AMI Doduco for 18 years as a Material Handler. More recently Mildred worked at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Patient Registration, a job she really enjoyed.

In her younger years Mildred enjoyed riding horses. She loved to cook, do yard work, going to flea markets, and doing crafts.

Mildred is survived by her husband Maynard A. Lancaster; brothers, Wayne Handy, Tim Handy and Junior Handy; sisters, Ruth Wray, Rosie Pack, Linda Gibson, Pattie Cardwell, Bobbie Ziglar and Joanne Price. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Jake.
