Dorothy Clarke Shively, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 3, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Shively was born February 1, 1929 in England. She was the daughter of Jesse and Mabel Cooper Clarke. Mrs. Shively was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Chruch and a retired guard with Wackenhut Security. Surviving is her son, Robert Shively and wife, Susan of Stoneville; two grandchildren, Christopher Shively and wife, Melissa of High Point, and Kristina Cox and husband, Ryan of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; one great-grandchild, Catherine Cox; brother, Joe Clarke of Banbury Oxon, England; and sister, Vera Ball, also of Banbury Oxon, England. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gordon Shively. There will be no formal visitation however, the family will be meeting at the home of her son at 774 Bent Farm Road in Stoneville. To the Shively family, especially Robert and family, as Robert and I were were school mates many years ago. My condolences go out to the family and friends of my long ago school chum. It has been said that "God gave us memories so that we many have roses in December." May uour memories" be wonderful and your grief short lived.
