Melvin "Mel" Thomas Helmholtz Jr., age 66 of Eden, passed away on Saturday, September 4th, 2021, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17th in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00pm.  The family will receive friends from 5-6pm at the Morehead-Fair House.

Mr. Helmholtz was born on April 18, 1955 in Passaic County, New Jersey to the late Melvin Thomas Helmholtz Sr. and Lina Hand Helmholtz Deppner. He was a drill press operator for ANSCO.

Melvin is survived by his sisters, Joanne Marie Thompson (Billy) of Eden and Rose Marie Gwynn (Ed) of Mt. Airy. He is also survived by his nieces, Shannon Cook of Eden; Antoinette Fonseca and Glenny of New Jersey, and Tonya Deppner of Mt. Airy; nephew, Ed (Autumn) Deppner of Mt. Airy; great nephews; Damon and Jacob Hawkes of Mt. Airy, Olivia and Emma-lee Montalbano;great nephew, Anthony Montalbano; great great nieces, Selena Hawkes of Mt. Airy and great great nephew, Abrieal Hawkes of Mt. Airy.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Debra Ann Carter Helmholtz; his sister, Mary Francis Pasqua; his brother, Thomas Richard Helmholtz; and his nephew, William Cook.
