Leonard Elwood Largen, 75, of 752 Garrett Road, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 26, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. A native of Rockingham County, Mr. Largen was born April 25, 1935, son of the late Bert and Daisy Morrison Largen. He was a US Army veteran and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving is son, Donald Largen of Stoneville; and brother, George Largen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Watkins Largen; two sons, Leonard Largen, Jr. and James Largen; brother, Richard Largen; and sister, Doris Jeffries. The family would like to offer a special thanks to his long-time companion and caregiver, Helen Barnes, as well as to Hospice of Rockingham County for the care given to Mr. Largen during his illness. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) on Saturday at the chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com

I was saddened to find out about the passing of Sonny. He was always a very nice man to me. He had alot of heart break in his life and I do hope in the last years he found happiness. I will remember him fondly. faye carter
