Judy Ann Dunn Thomasson, 82, of 1243 Virginia Street, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday afternoon, February 20, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 26, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Thomasson was born May 25, 1928 in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Luke and Tinnie Ratliff Dunn. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church and was the owner of a quaint, little country store until her retirement. Once retired she spent many hours caring for her grandchidren, ultimately leaving them with wonderful memories of her warmth and dedicated love. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry Thomasson, Carol McGuire and husband, Mack, and Ann Rumley and husband, Billy, all of Eden; four grandchildren, Julie Martin, Josh Rumley, Brittany Rumley, and Cindy McKenzie; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Sydney Martin and Lauren and Dillon Wood; brothers, Pete, Leroy and Frank Dunn; and sisters, Louise Gatewood, Magdaline Hopkins, Betty Jo Nelson, and Teresa Archibald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack "Perk" Brown Thomasson. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Morehead Nursing Center for their care and compassion. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, 6 - 8 PM at the home of Carol and Mack McGuire, 511 Martinwood Road in Eden. There will also be a visitation immediately following the memorial service in the chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
To Carol ,Ann and Jerry I am so sorry to hear about Judy I always thought alot about her. I still talk about the days when she ran that store and how I use to play with Bruno the dachshund . Those were the days. I visited with her while she was at the Morehead nursing center, she knew who I was , she will truly be missed. God bless each of you and may he comfort you ,just know she is another Angel in Heaven.

Jerry, Ann, & Carol. Where to start? Your mom was so precious to our family. I can close my eyes and see her bathing Kathy. I don't know how she managed it at the time with you three, but she always had time to help daddy out with me and Kathy when mom was so sick. But that is just the way Judy was. So caring and loving. She will truly be missed. But Carol, like you said to me earlier, she is rejoicing in Heaven with mom, dad, your dad, and her mom. What a wonderful reunion!!!! My heart goes out to you all. Been there. Just passed the anniversary of daddys passing. (Feb.16) I love you all very much. Praying for peace for you.

Jerry, Carol Fernard called me last night and told me about this and I was so sad. I only met your Mom one time years ago at her home, and I can still clearly remember her and how much of a genuine mother and person she was. I remember after leaving her home and crossing the bridge at North Spray, I was thinking how much she reminded me of my Mom who was very understanding of everything and never had a harsh word for anyone. I think your Mom was a Mother above everything with undying love no matter what happened. I'm sure you will think of her every day and how good she was to you. Maybe it's the modern times but I truly do not think there are Moms any more that have the deep goodness as those born in the 20's and 30's. Be well my friends Jerry and Carol, and may God be with you as I am sure he is with your Mom. Gene DeHart

To Carol & Mack, Jerry, Ann & Billy and family. Although I did not know Judy personally, I knew her thru Mack's account of her life. I know that your loss is depth and will be slow to heal. Just know that all the people around you are praying for you and your family. May you be comforted by these words. God Bless each of you.
